We’re Hiring!

Indaba Music is a small but passionate team that believes the music industry is more alive than ever. We are looking for people who are passionate about our mission to provide every musician in the world with an ongoing reason to create music and practice their art. Check out the great folks who recently joined our team:

Music’s been a part of my life for a very long time. If there’s such a thing as a skill-hoarding disorder – I have it. I started playing piano when I was 4 and the violin when I was 9. I loved both and took lessons for years. I was concert mistress of several string ensembles and orchestras growing up (including a fiddle group where I wore a cowboy hat). I was in several of my school’s musicals (on stage and in pit). I’ve also taken classical singing lessons, learned to play snare for drum line, and taught myself to play a little bit of guitar and ukulele. On the flip side, I’m a bit of an audiophile. My dad and I used to build sound amplifiers and go to ham fests to check out vintage speakers and tubes. We spent a lot of nights in our basement listening to jazz records.

Some Fun Facts: I love knitting. My favorite non-musical sound: animals drinking water. I’m addicted to the Internet, like everyone else. I have a replica of the record player in the movie A Clockwork Orange.

Sean                                                                                                   Some Musical Memories:
After being assigned to the French Horn in elementary school, I picked up an Electric Bass in High School and never looked back. I was influenced by progressive bass players including James Jamerson, Victor Wooten, Jaco Pastorius, Geddy Lee, Flea & Les Claypool, and dual majored in music performance & business during college. I played in symphony orchestras, marching bands, off-broadway plays, touring jam bands, fusion ensembles and mixed jazz groups.

After school, I worked in artist management with Biohazard & other north eastern rock bands. I found my way to BMG Entertainment which became Sony Music Entertainment. During my tenure at the major label group, I worked in mobile from cutting the first ringtones to marketing artists with smartphone apps.

Some Fun Facts:  My favorite bass is a 5 String Fodera NYC Empire, I played in an NYU Stern cover band. Back when I had a shaved head, I played a NYE gig with my band, Jake’s Magic Pouch.

I have always been into both music and programming. Now, at Indaba music, I get to combine my two favorite interests!  When not developing web applications, I play bass with the Bella Boys, a New York City bluegrass band.  In addition to bluegrass, I enjoy jazz, folk, classical and electronic music and dabble in guitar and piano.  One day I hope to build my own homemade synth, or electrocute myself and die trying!

Some Fun Facts: I’m from Baltimore, MD. Before Indaba I was working on the Teach For America website. I have been playing bass and guitar for 10 years – mostly in the Jazz and Bluegrass style. Today is my first day at work!

hi, im only 17 years of age, but dont let that put you off -.-

I personally haven’t had blogging experience before, but i’d work hard and keep on top of it. English is my top subject, and music is personally my passion. I listen to all genres, hip hop, indie chillout, folk, rock, metal, you name it. The main reason I would like to blog is because I love introducing and recommending people new music, it gives me pleasure to see people enjoying music they would have never given a chance before it was introduced to them, and being able to do it in a different way, to a larger scale of people, I see it as an amazing opportunity. I live in London, i’m currently studying at college. Please feel free to email me if i’m successful :)
