Indaba Music’s 2012 Summer Interns

At Indaba Music, we’re known for having amazing interns. Nearly 50% of our staff began as interns that we just couldn’t let go. Each semester we look forward to meeting exciting and passionate students who connect with our staff and want to help bring our international community of musicians professional opportunities.

This summer, I’d like you to meet Alex, Allie, Kevin 1, Kevin 2, Charles, Ieva and Milton. They’re an incredible bunch and though we had wanted to share stories from each, one intern in particular wrote a heartfelt piece about his experience at of our offices.

“I Want You (She’s So Heavy)” Performed Live at the Loft

Meet Tauk, a band that delivers a unique blend of funk, jazz, pop and rock with a fresh, experimental spirit. Since forming earlier this decade, the NYC-based group has built an impressive DIY buzz scoring opening gigs for O.A.R, MOE., Robert Randolph & the Family Band and many more.

We were happy to have some locals pop by the loft shortly after our shoot with PK. Tauk has a wonderful musical vision that pushes the envelope for many fans and we’re so excited to bring you this vision through their Beatles cover in the video above.

PK Covers Don Gibson at Suite 268

Sonically described as “The Killers meet Vampire Weekend,” PK has been compared to acts such as The Cure, and U2. This high-energy, scrappy indie-pop quintet made the trip from their base in California, to NYC. We were lucky enough to be one of the stops along their trip through the Big Apple.

Back at the loft we’ve begun experimenting with new lighting and areas of the space. We hope you like it!

Camp Bisco Winner Interview with Indaba Music

Camp Bisco is one of the most exciting electronic music festivals of the year. As a fan, what could be better then performing at this festival?! Disco Biscuits allowed for that opportunity and Indaba Music is proud to present the winner, Ghost Official!

This 18 year old had the chance of a lifetime when he was flown out to perform at Camp Bisco. Luckily, we sent a few Indaba Music staff members to catch the performance and this exclusive interview with the winner in the video above.

Dream with The Ugly Club at Suite 268

Fearlessly honest and unwaveringly persistent, The Ugly Club has been operating for nearly two years with such a force that it has become impossible to ignore them (and you would be foolish to do so). We had the pleasure of hosting a video shoot for Suite 268 with them this week.

Their delicate inclusion of jazz, indie-rock, and Prince-eqsue neo-funk sent us into an a daydream. And that cover? It melted our hearts.
