Sample Yourself

I’ve been getting heavy into working only with samples. In need of new material, sometimes I go thru a crate of records or book of CDs. Today I decided to revisit all of my unfinished songs and find good loops that are salvageable. The material is 100% original and it is usually sounding pretty good and processed to my own taste. If you are stuck for sounds, this is a good way to get some use out of work that you may have spent time on, but it never saw the light of day. Happy bouncing. Peace.
Always Be Ready To Record

This may be a given to some of you, but I can’t stress how key it is to always have a way to make a quality recording. Many of us have something in our phones, but a good field recorder can be a valuable investment. I was in the airport the other day and there was a weird alarm going off. It had such an amazing “bloop” sound. I was actually working on a beat at the time in my headphones and I heard it during a pause. I stopped what I was doing and ran over with my Zoom H2 recorder. I chopped it up and was able to throw it into a sampler for adding it to my beat. It fits perfectly! I will probably use this sample many times in the future.
