Live at Suite268, Lucius Performs “Go Home”

When they wrote their self-titled EP, Lucius was living in an old Victorian house in Brooklyn’s Ditmas Park. They found the place on Craigslist, not knowing it was a recording studio and music school for 60 years prior. There were so many treasures that had been left behind – like the 100 year old Steinway piano that would nurture their writing habits. The four-story musical fortress also housed 8 other musician friends and would soon open their doors to bandmates Danny Molad and Peter Lalish.

Much of their record is about these unique experiences, told from the same perspective, at the same time, with the same sentiment. Two voices as one.

Indaba Music is thrilled to present a gorgeous video capturing an intimate moment the band experienced at the Suite268 loft on the Bowery. “Go Home” is a wonderfully built song filled with power and soul.

Exclusive Interview with States

You may remember States from their stripped-down performance video of “Timebomb” off their debut album Room to Run at the Indaba Music loft.

We caught up with them at SXSW to talk a bit about the Mashup The Loft contest where we had CMJ bands compose and record unique musical ideas. We compiled those song components along with sounds from the daily happenings at the Indaba Music office.

Check out what they had to say below!

SXSW Showcase Videos – A Must See!

On Friday, March 16th, Indaba Music held a showcase of the best emerging artists at Bandpage HQ, a massive music compound assembled in Austin by their friends at RootMusic.

In addition to amazing new artists like Cory Chisel and Sydney Wayser (who will be releasing her digital album next Tuesday), we asked our community to find one amazing band to fill out the bill and perform for the SXSW attendees. We sent a handful of great videographers down to Austin to capture the entire event which has resulted in a wonderfully curated playlist of authentic moments from one of the most exciting stages at SXSW.

You’ll see familiar faces like AMBASSADORS from our Suite268 videos and remix contest “Unconsolable,” plus long time Indaba friend, Emily Greene, who recently hosted the Girls Just Want To Have Fun contest.

Stay tuned for interviews from SXSW!
