Indaba’s Music Video Series: Hannah Read

Our most recent highlight from the Video Opportunity comes from the student community at the Berklee College for music, featuring singer/songwriter Hannah Read and Indaba member Charlie Van Kirk behind the drums. This beautiful performance of Hannah’s song “Only You Will Know” was recorded at Berklee’s Studio A and was produced, engineered, and mixed by Mr. Van Kirk.

Alisha Zalkin and Playing for Change

It may sound crazy, but here at Indaba, we love music. I know, I know—shocking. More specifically, we love the idea of using music to do good, which is why teaming up with Playing for Change, a foundation committed to creating positive change through the universal language of music, was a no-brainer. This past weekend, Playing for Change deemed September 17th, “Playing for Change Day“, challenging musicians from all over the world to put on a show and donate to the cause. Indaba connected with Alisha Zalkin, a local singer/songwriter and PFC enthusiast, who gathered her unofficial PFC NYC band for the occasion. So on Saturday, Indaba kicked it elementary school style and took a field trip (minus the big yellow buses) to check out the show.

Indaba Music Presents: Sydney Wayser

Sydney Wayser is singer-songwriter who, with her French father and American mother, has lived her life between Paris and Los Angeles. Sydney’s music is rife with tales and adventure; it quite simply draws you into her world, delicately. She’s currently in the process of making her 3rd album and we’re please to bring you a sneak peak of two new songs! Indaba Music Presents: Emily Greene

As you may know, the Indaba office is located in New York City – a city that is filled to the brim with spectacular musicians. So we’re taking full advantage of our location and interviewing local Indaba members to get some of their best musician-to-musician advice on topics ranging from getting gigs to songwriting. Along with these interviews, we’ve also asked them to perform live in our office, but don’t be jealous — we caught it on film to share with you.

Our first video features Emily Greene, an artist we have featured on our Grooveshark Breakthrough Radio Playlist (submit here). Watch to learn about her experiences with Indaba as an independent musician, plus a performance of her original song “Oceans and Waves”.
